Central Florida restaurant shutdowns: Lots of roaches and soiled single-use gloves handling food – Orlando Sentinel

Three Central Florida restaurants received emergency orders to shut down in the week of March 27-April 2, according to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Inspectors found 18 violations, two of which were a high priority.

Those violations included rodent and roach activity.

A visit on April 1 found five violations, none of which were a high priority.

Ichiban Buffet at 5269 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee shut down on March 29.

Inspectors found 14 violations, three of which were a high priority.

Those violations included roach activity, roach excrement and single-use gloves not being changed when they were damaged or soiled.

A March 30 visit found 11 violations, with a time extension for the single-use gloves violation.

Inspectors said the restaurant met inspection standards.

Pho Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant at 312 S. Peninsula Dr. in Daytona Beach shut down on March 31.

Officials found 18 violations, six of which were a high priority.

Those violations included flying insects in the kitchen, nonfood-grade bags touching food, rodent droppings, roach activity, and a missing vacuum breaker.

Inspectors revisited the restaurant on April 1.

They found 12 violations, and granted time extensions on five of the six high-priority violations.

A second April 1 visit found nine violations, and time extensions for the flying insects, nonfood grade bags touching food, and the missing vacuum breaker.

Inspectors said the restaurant met standards after the visit.

Orange had the top spot for most warnings and other complaints in Central Florida with 34.

Volusia County had 31, Brevard had 15, Seminole had 13, Lake had six, and Osceola had five. Warnings given with required follow-up inspections could lead to a business being shut down if problems remain.
